Car Insurance Fraud Hotline

Tell me why I should NOT report this guy to the car insurance fraud hot-line.?

There is a guy who lives over the road who is 71 YEARS old (You would expect better behaviour from someone that age) who bumped his car in a supermarket car park into another car… He drove off without reporting it. And now he is bragging that he told the insurance company that his car was damaged in the street and the driver of the other car drove off without reporting it.
Back to my question…. Tell me 1 good reason why I should not report this to the car insurance fraud hotline.
Before you say mind your own buisness etc etc…
What if it was YOUR car he drove into/ damaged it and drove away without telling anyone.

Sounds not a very nice man at all but unless you have the reg. number or other constructive information about the car he bumped you aren’t really going to achieve anything. He may get his car repaired but his insurance premium will be bumped up next year so that may make you feel better about the situation. Actually quite the reverse happened to me. A few years ago I was parking and went in to the bumper of a parked car. I left a note on the windscreen for the owner, giving my details, apologising and asking the owner to get in touch. He certainly did and attempted to accuse me of other damage to his car, it became a nightmare and at the time did make me wonder if I should have just drove off but even if it happened again probably my conscience wouldn’t let me.
